A Thousand Followers, and My Commitment to You All
Almost twenty years of blogging have been fun. Let’s keep it up.
I started a blog back in 2005, after reading a news article about another blog where people would mail in their secrets on postcards. It was on the old “Blogger” platform taken over by Google. I had a simple blog where I would pretty much journal my thoughts about what happened every other day. (I moved to Wordpress in 2010.)
Little by little, the blog grew as I connected with other bloggers. We would share and comment on each other’s blog posts. I am still friends with several of them today. It was a good way to connect with like-minded people in the days before social media giants like MySpace or Friendster.
Then Facebook came around, and we all jumped on it.
Paying the Price for Writing
Of course, writing on my blogs has not been without repercussions. From 2005 to 2007, I worked as a lab tech at a hospital. I couldn’t write about anything related to the patient cases I saw, though I wanted to. I wanted to share the knowledge I gained through my interactions with the healthcare providers in the small hospital where I worked, and in the Master of Public Health studies.
