Parenting in Times of COVID-19, Part 2: My Turn

I woke up to positive news. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good news.

After my daughter tested positive for COVID yesterday, we decided to wear masks around the house to keep me from catching it. I tested negative, but I was pretty sure I was going to test positive eventually. We spent six hours in the car on the way up and back from Pennsylvania, and she was snugly since my wife is out of town for a conference. (I guess my wife is at her own superspreader event?)

Late last night, I started getting symptoms of an upper respiratory infection. I had a sore throat, and runny nose. Then I had a bit of a headache. I took some cough and cold medicine and went to bed. I didn’t sleep well. My daughter did sleep well, but I occasionally heard her cough in the middle of the night.

This morning, I woke up with body aches, feeling like I did a lot of weightlifting yesterday. The little one woke up, brushed her teeth, put on her mask and walked into my bedroom. She watched her kids' videos for a while, but then she got hungry. We got up to have breakfast. As she ate breakfast, I opened a COVID test kit.
