They need to be mandatory for certain groups, because we unfortunately cannot depend on people's opinions to protect the most vulnerable, the ones who can't make a decision on their own.

Parents have allowed their children to be injured or die from vaccine-preventable diseases because of the "option" to not vaccinate. We saw it Samoa, as I wrote. We saw it in the UK. There is a generation of Eastern European children with birth defects because their mothers opted to not get the MMR vaccine and developed rubella.

In a perfect world, I'd agree with you.
