Two quotes come to mind. One is from the animated series Futurama: “When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.”

Another is from the sci-fi series The Outer Limits: "The true measure of a hero can be found when a man lays down his life with the knowledge that those he saves will never know."

Okay, maybe a third one, from the BBC series Sherlock, when Moriarty says, "I've given you a glimpse, Sherlock—just a teensy glimpse—of what I've got going on out there in the big bad world."

People are confusing to me. When the pilot comes on and tells them to put on their seat belt during a turbulent time in the flight, the people don't rise up and call the pilot names for getting them through the turbulence and landing safely. But when we in public health give science-based recommendations and get people through a pandemic, we're pharma shills. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
